Big hurricane in Odessa

Yesterday we had one of the biggest hurricane for last years. At some places water was deep 1 meter. Waves at Black Sea were 4 meters high.

We've been very fortune and no damage at Hope House. But as you can see at pictures some people wasn't so lucky.

First Step Center Update

Team from Broadmoor, USA

In October we had a team from Broadmoor Baptist Church. They came with a special goal - finish the roof of Hope House 2. I think when they came they were a little shocked of the size of our building :)

It seemed impossible from the beginning. But boys and girls worked really hard! So the task was completed!!!

Thank you again!!!Together we can make a difference!!!

We want to thank our friend Barry Boucher for his big heart for Ukraine. This time he came with a special mission to teach us very interesting topic -  'Discovering the God-given Rhythm of Work and Rest'.

Our World Hope Ukraine team as well as girls from Hope House had 2 wonderful days of resting (only Barry worked :)

October - HH 2 construction news

Kerry and me started putting on the soffit yesterday.

Slow but very important job.  We are preparing everything for a team from Mississippi to finish the roof.

We want to congratulate one of out graduated Hope House girls - Zhanna. After Hope House she went to Kiev Theologian Seminary for 2 more years. Now she has a diploma. So proud of you, Zhanna. Hope to see you in ministry soon!!! May God bless you!!!

September 11 - Construction news

We have wonderful team from Alabama this week. Only three man but what a difference you can make when you come to serve. They finished waterproof insulation for the roof and started to build stagings  for the next team to put shingles.

September 6 - Construction news

Today the team finished the roof and started to put water proof material to make everything ready for the next team.

You can see we started to do our roof couple days ago. Boys are going to finish laying plywood by tomorrow and then we are going to have a team to lay shingles.

Lot's of work had been done and we are looking forward to have two more teams to help us this year.

We will need more help next year. Are you still sit and dream?????? Come and help!!!!

Team from Sunnyside Church - Ottawa

We had a wonderful team from Sunnyside Church Ottawa. 

They came to conduct the camp at Kremidovka village. But not only this... They came earlier so they had opportunity to have blessed time with our Hope House family, had chance to visit First Step Center and kids there, and also helped us with construction of Hope House 2.

I say all of this to say BIG THANK YOU!!! We really appreciate your love hearts, hard work and flexibility.

Can't wait to see all of you or at least some of you next year. By the way, I believe this church come to Ukraine and serve our kids for 6 years in a row so far. Good example for everyone!!!

Construction news - August 2

Well!!! We are welcome the team of three men from Mill Cove Church of God.   

Yesterday they just landed and big surprise. Lot's of lumber to unload. No complain. They worked really hard and keep working today. We are going to prepare walls at the second floor so we can start to put roof together with the next team.

This work was impossible without the team from Wesleyan Church of Orchard Park who did cement work at the all second floor at the Hope House 2.

We had wonderful Birthday party together today. Good meal and the best cake ever. By the way, Kerry ate my piece  :(  LOL

Newspaper about World Hope

Today one of the largest newspaper in Ukraine "Arguments and Facts in Ukraine" published an article about our work here in Odessa.

Yesterday we started to build our walls. Hope to do two floors in 1 - 2 month. May be :)

Sad news

Very said news for all of us was death of Vitya. He was with us almost from the time First Step was opened. He died a week ago because of HIV.

Vitya left his home when he was 7 years old. His mother was drug edict. He met street kids and started to use glue, drugs, alcohol. As a reason of this soon he got TB, problems with his liver, etc.

As he grew up he became more and more out of control. But then Vitya met Jesus. And he was healed from all his sicknesses and bad habits.  Vitya was baptized. Local Christian TV company even made a video where Vitya gave his testimony. 

He started to serve God in church. God helped us to make all paper for his apartment, so he had a place to live.

But then Vitya met his old friends and his life started to go below and below. He started old life – drugs, glue…

Sometimes he visited us at First Step. All the time we reminded him about God’s love. When Vitya was at hospital and had only couple more days to live he accepted Jesus to his life again. Sin destroyed his body but we hope that his eternal soul belong to God through His mercy and love.
